Hey, Iā€™m Patience šŸ‘‹

Iā€™m a UX researcher based in Chicago. I enjoy listening to people and identifying opportunities to make their daily experiences more delightful.

When Iā€™m not working, I like to be outside hiking and camping, trying new food, taking new classes (currently learning to throw clay on a wheel), or hanging out at home with my cat, Nan.

    UX Researcher Sep 2020 - Apr 2022

Bold Insight is a user experience and human factors consulting practice in the Chicagoland area. As a UX research consultant, I work closely with fellow researchers and stakeholders to define research objectives, manage recruits, moderate participant interviews, and present research findings that inform design recommendations.

Our work is primarily focused on digital, next-generation technology, ranges from medical devices to apps and websites, and includes pre-formative, formative, and validation studies. The majority of my work focused on exploratory consumer tech projects.

    Land and Sea Dept.

    Lead Bartender / Server Nov 2017 - Jan 2020

The skills I gained building relationships with both guests and vendors in the hospitality industry play a huge role in how I approach problem-solving and participant interactions. In this role, I learned how to communicate and connect with all types of people.

The 10+ years that I worked in the service industry made me the curious and empathetic researcher that I am today. I also know how to make a great margarita (with or without tequila).

The Digital Communications and Media Arts program utilizes an interdisciplinary approach to design and trans-media storytelling. I had the opportunity to tailor my coursework to human-centered design and UX practices. My master's thesis was a design thinking toolkit created in partnership with the Art Institute of Chicago, the Museum of Contemporary Art, and the Design Museum aimed to help museums design more accessible programming and spaces for people with sensory disabilities.
